Versatile Forward Joins Lady Lions
Southeastern Louisiana University announced the addition of Diana Szakolczi, a 6‑0 junior forward from Budapest, Hungary, to its 2026‑27 women's basketball roster. The signing bolsters the Lady Lions' depth and adds a player with proven collegiate experience.
Szakolczi spent two seasons at Midland College, where she averaged 13.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per game while starting every contest. Her performances earned her a place on the Western Junior College Athletic Conference All‑Conference First Team and helped the Lady Chaps secure a 19‑game double‑digit scoring streak, highlighted by a career‑high 28‑point outing.
Coach's Praise
Head Coach Jeff Dow highlighted the player's versatility, noting that she can operate effectively at both the 3 and 4 positions. Dow emphasized that her time under veteran coach Ron Jones, who boasts over 700 career wins and has developed more than 55 Division I athletes, has prepared her for the rigors of NCAA competition.
The new signing brings the total number of commitments for the 2026‑27 class to six, joining Lillian Merow and Shaine Parker among others. With a blend of scoring ability and rebounding, Szakolczi is expected to contribute immediately as the team aims for a strong season in the Gulf South Conference.
