The Southern Conference has released its complete basketball schedules for both the men's and women's programs, setting the stage for a busy winter across the Southeast. Fans can now mark their calendars for a slate that blends early‑season non‑conference tests with a rigorous conference double‑round‑robin.
East Tennessee State University’s men’s team will navigate a 20‑game double‑round‑robin format, amounting to 110 league contests spread over eleven weeks that run from early December through late February. The schedule begins with a pre‑conference road test in Huntington, West Virginia, where the Buccaneers meet Marshall on November 17 before returning to Johnson City for the official conference opener on December 29.
Following the opening night, ETSU embarks on a demanding stretch that takes them to the campuses of UNC Greensboro, The Citadel, Wofford and Furman, before they finish the regular season at home against Samford on February 27. The road trip series promises tight contests against some of the conference’s most competitive programs.
Championship weekend looms
The men’s championship will be crowned at the Harrah’s Cherokee Center in Asheville on March 8, capping a season that has seen the team travel extensively and face a Who’s Who of Southern opponents. The women’s tournament follows a similar arc, with its own set of home and away battles leading up to the final.
On the women’s side, the Buccaneers will also play a 16‑game double‑round‑robin schedule, totaling 72 conference contests. Their first home game is slated for December 29 against Tennessee Tech, and the remainder of the slate includes a mix of home and away matchups against Western Carolina, Furman, Samford, Wofford, Mercer, UNCG and Chattanooga.
