Southern Connecticut State University’s baseball program celebrated a double triumph this week as three of its student‑athletes earned spots on the 2026 Northeast 10 Conference Baseball Academic All‑Conference team.
A season of excellence
Brennan Staubley emerged as the offensive cornerstone for the Owls, batting .429 for the season while launching 11 home runs. His 3.40 GPA in healthcare studies underscored a commitment to scholarship, and his performance placed him second in the conference for batting average and third in OPS at 1.163.
Staubley’s most memorable stretch came against Franklin Pierce, where he went 8‑for‑11 with two homers and eight RBI, a series that helped secure his second CCA Division II All‑Region nod and a place on the All‑Northeast 10 First Team.
Defensive standouts
Jake Chacho contributed a .301 average and eight home runs while maintaining a 3.79 GPA in his master’s program. He appeared in every game, posted a .985 fielding percentage and earned a spot on the NE10 All‑Defensive team.
Devin Pelletier rounded out the academic trio with a .993 fielding percentage, a 3.71 GPA in sport and entertainment management and a third straight selection to the NE10 All‑Defensive Team, also garnering Academic All‑Conference honors.
Conferencewide accolades
The trio’s recognitions extended beyond individual stats; Pelletier’s defensive consistency and Chacho’s all‑around production helped the Owls secure a strong season record, while Staubley’s offensive surge kept the team competitive in key matchups.
Coach Jack Drewry praised the student‑athletes for embodying the program’s blend of athletics and academics, noting that their achievements set a benchmark for future classes.
