Southern Miss University’s baseball program, known as the Golden Eagles, is gearing up for the 2027 Frisco College Baseball Classic, a premier in-season tournament that will test the team against some of the nation’s top clubs.
A Strong 2026 Finish
The Eagles capped the previous season by sweeping the Round Rock Classic, defeating Oregon State, Purdue and Baylor in a three-game stretch that highlighted their depth and pitching prowess.
Top Weekend Starters and National Recognition
The weekend rotation features Grayden Harris, Camden Clark and Camden Sunstrom, all of whom have earned individual accolades; Harris even earned a spot in the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training Camp and made the final roster.
Aiming for Omaha
The ultimate goal for Southern Miss is to return to the College World Series in Omaha for the first time since 2009, a milestone that would underscore the program’s resurgence.
The 2027 Frisco Classic Schedule
The tournament schedule has been released, pairing the Eagles with Kansas, UC Irvine and Oklahoma in a competitive bracket that promises early-season benchmarks and valuable experience.
Beyond the tournament, the experience gained from high-profile in-season events is viewed as a catalyst that could pay dividends later in the year, helping the team maintain momentum toward the postseason.
