The final day of the Southern Tier Basketball Camp at Panama Central School turned into a celebration of achievement, as more than 80 girls from grades four through nine gathered to receive awards for a season of competition.
Champions Crowned on the Final Day
Under the guidance of Panama varsity girls basketball coach Chris Dole and veteran assistants such as Loren Smith, the camp blended skill drills with friendly contests, culminating in a slate of champions across a variety of formats.
Competitions spanned 1‑on‑1, 2‑on‑2, 3‑on‑3, 5‑on‑5, Rapid Fire, free‑throw and Sportsmanship, each producing its own set of winners. Bailey Burnett and Sophia Schroek stood atop the 1‑on‑1 brackets, while Bailey Burnett paired with Kendall Dankovich to capture the Junior Varsity 2‑on‑2 title. In the Varsity 2‑on‑2, Katelyn Hosmer and Adalyn Lindsey emerged victorious.
The Junior Varsity 3‑on‑3 crown went to Bailey Burnett, Jacquelin Pisko and Laikan Bennink, and the Varsity 3‑on‑3 was claimed by Oakley Smith, Parker Cooney and Emma Landy. The UConn team, coached by Tanleigh Bestine, secured the 5‑on‑5 championship, adding another highlight to the day.
Individual accolades were also handed out, with Hadley Peterson and Greta Gilevski winning the Rapid Fire events, and Lila Kitchell and Adalyn Reese taking the free‑throw contests. Phoebe Wolcott and Natalie Briggs earned the Most Improved honors.
The Sportsmanship Team, recognizing exemplary conduct, featured Stella Mazgaj, Kendall Dankovich, Ry‑Lea Irwin, Charlie Bird, Greta Gilevski, Paesyn Liddell, Charlotte Dent and Grace Musee. Other participants such as Hannah Cook, Riley Rosage, Hayden Weise, Stella Gould, Kaylee Landy, Reagan Anderson and many more contributed to the camp’s vibrant atmosphere.
Kaitlyn Hosmer, another rising star, helped deepen the competition in the 2‑on‑2 events, while Stella Gould, Riley Rosage, Hayden Weise, Reagan Anderson and Kaylee Landy rounded out the enthusiastic crowd that cheered each performance.
The camp not only highlighted athletic talent but also reinforced values of teamwork and improvement, leaving a lasting impression on the Southern Tier community.
