The 2026 high school football season in Southwest Florida is shaping up to be one of the most dynamic in recent memory, with more than 65 player transfers already recorded across the region.
Among the most talked‑about moves is the relocation of running back Nino Joseph from Lely to St. John Neumann, while quarterback Brady Quinn has left Lely for Chaminade‑Madonna, bringing with him a career‑high 2,960 passing yards and 37 touchdowns from the previous year.
Schools such as Cape Coral, Barron Collier and Bishop Verot have become hubs of activity, each losing and gaining key athletes. At Bishop Verot, Maikol Armas made the switch to Cape Coral and immediately stepped onto the defensive line, while at Community School of Naples, Louvens Bazile rushed for 861 yards as a freshman.
The transfer ripple effect extends to other programs, with players like Kwanell Bedward moving from Charlotte to Dunbar and Kemoni Brooks heading from Gateway to Miami Palmetto, where he logged 65 tackles and an interception on defense.
Quarterback changes dominate the conversation. In addition to Quinn, Jaydon Henderson transferred from Cypress Lake to South Fort Myers, completing 117 of 210 passes for 1,858 yards and 19 touchdowns, while Michael Hope is slated to be the quarterback for Barron Collier in 2026.
Defensively, Bryson Colyer shifted from Fort Myers to Cape Coral and posted a team‑high 78 tackles with a sack, and Leonidas Govedaris moved from Bonita Springs to Estero, adding 68 tackles and an interception at linebacker.
Rising Stars
Several newcomers are already making noise. Aiden Jundt, a freshman at Bishop Verot, recorded 13 tackles on the defensive line, while Selah Justice, who transferred from IMG Academy to First Baptist, brings experience from a nationally ranked State team.
With rosters still in flux, coaches are evaluating how these shifts will affect playoff prospects, but the sheer volume of movement guarantees that storylines will continue to unfold throughout the summer.
