A Season of Excellence on the Space Coast
Florida Today’s annual All-Space Coast baseball selections have added a new layer of recognition for the 2025-26 season, naming separate Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year awards for the first time.
Ty Brandes of Merritt Island emerged as the Offensive Player of the Year after a season that saw him bat .455, drive in 25 runs, steal 44 bases and post a 2.23 ERA on the mound, showcasing a rare two-way impact.
Clay MacConnell from Melbourne was crowned Pitcher of the Year after going 7-0 with a 1.59 ERA, striking out 58 batters while walking just 20 in 48.1 innings, a performance that left opposing hitters scrambling.
The All-Space Coast first team features a who’s-who of standout players from schools across Brevard County, each posting impressive statistics that underscored a competitive season, while the second team also boasts several players who posted double-digit hit totals, double-digit RBIs and sub-2.00 ERAs.
Coaches and teammates alike credit the depth of talent to strong youth programs and a culture that rewards both offensive firepower and pitching precision, suggesting that the region will continue to produce college-level prospects at an accelerated rate.
