A popular YouTube channel known as Speed Demon 407, which showcased high‑speed motorcycle stunts on public roads, has announced its shutdown, citing the recent implementation of Florida’s ‘Super Speeder’ statute.
The legislation, which came into force on July 1, 2025, empowers law‑enforcement officers to arrest drivers instantly when they exceed the speed limit by 50 mph or travel at 100 mph in a reckless manner, imposing up to 30 days of incarceration and a $500 penalty.
The Law Takes Effect
For Dallas Ashley, the channel’s creator and a great‑grandson of NASCAR founder Bill France Sr. and nephew of Jim France, the new law represented more than a regulatory change; it became a personal safety concern that prompted him to step away from the platform.
Ashley, who had previously denied being the rider featured in the viral clips, revealed that the prospect of jail time and the resulting paranoia made continued posting untenable, leading him to thank his audience in a final video before pulling the channel offline.
The channel’s content often featured motorcycles accelerating past 150 mph on highways with speed limits of 70 mph, including stretches of Interstate 4 and the Florida Turnpike, drawing criticism from viewers worried about public safety.
After a viewer raised alarms about the dangers posed to other motorists, the Florida Highway Patrol opened an investigation; however, the rider’s identity could not be confirmed, and no charges were filed.
In the wake of the investigation, more than 120 videos were either deleted or set to private, and YouTube subsequently removed additional footage for violating its policies against dangerous or illegal behavior.
Ashley’s farewell message included a pointed critique of both the Florida Highway Patrol and the local news outlet that had reported on the case, underscoring the contentious atmosphere surrounding the law’s enforcement.
