The Wichita Thunder announced that forward Spencer Blackwell will return for the 2026‑27 season, securing the 26‑year‑old’s services for another campaign.
Blackwell’s 2025‑26 stint was his most complete professional season to date, as he tallied 21 points — 12 goals and nine assists — over 71 games, earning the team’s Unsung Hero honor for his contributions.
Earlier in his career, he appeared in nine games at the tail end of the 2024‑25 campaign and contributed two goals during the 2025 Kelly Cup Playoffs, showcasing his ability to step up when the stakes rise.
College Roots and Recognition
Prior to joining Wichita, Blackwell completed four seasons at Lakehead University, where he capped his senior year with 24 points — 10 goals and 14 assists — in 28 games.
His collegiate excellence earned him a spot on the USports (OUA West) First All‑Star Team in 2022‑23, highlighting his status as one of the top prospects from the Ontario university circuit.
