A Fresh Coaching Chapter for the Fightin’ Irish
Springfield Catholic High School’s soccer program capped the 2025 season with a third consecutive district championship and a Class 2 state title, cementing its reputation as a powerhouse in the region.
The victory came after Hall of Fame coach Tom Davidson announced his retirement, bringing to a close a tenure that helped shape the school’s recent dominance.
Taking the reins, J.J. Adikwu, a London‑born graduate of Drury University, steps into the head‑coach role with a vision that blends the program’s rich tradition with a fresh emphasis on collective effort.
Adikwu inherits a roster anchored by a core group of seniors—Tyler Houlm, Lucas Mulherin, Graham Swisshelm, Finley Young and Tyler Pinkerton—who have been instrumental in the team’s recent successes.
Alongside them, returning players such as Eli Roberts, Ryan Wilson, Hayden Graddy, Foster Garoutte, Lucas Todd and Quinton Smith add depth and experience, while newcomers Brady Farmer, John Morrison and Beckham Evans are expected to vie for minutes.
The new coaching staff stresses daily improvement and high‑level competition, aiming to stay competitive in conference play, defend the district crown and push for another state title.
The 2026 campaign opens on August 27 at Carthage, following a preseason jamboree at Springfield Greenwood on August 21, giving the team an early chance to test its chemistry.
