St. Albans High School is opening its doors to the community with a town hall meeting that will spotlight the football program’s push to reshape its culture and support structure.
First‑year head coach Dan Brown, who brings fifteen years of coaching experience from Sherman Junior/Senior High School in Boone County, outlined his vision for the Red Dragons and emphasized the importance of building a sustainable program.
The program has endured eighteen consecutive losing seasons, the most recent being a winless 0‑10 campaign, and has managed only four victories over the past four years combined.
Brown is targeting a roster of roughly seventy players, with a minimum of thirty‑five, and is focusing on retention by keeping freshmen on the field as sophomores to foster long‑term growth.
A community‑driven approach to rebuilding
Flex practices are scheduled to begin on July 14 at three p.m. at Crawford Field, with the official practice window opening on August 3, and the season opener set for August 28 at Shady Spring with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
The town hall served as both a logistical briefing and a rallying point for parents, alumni and local supporters eager to see the Red Dragons return to competitiveness and break the streak of losing seasons.
