Crusaders Capture State Title
St. Cloud Cathedral erupted in celebration after a 4-0 victory over Glencoe-Silver Lake in the Class 2A state baseball championship, clinching the program’s 10th title and ending an 11‑year drought since their last crown in 2015.
All ten championships have been guided by head coach Bob Karn, whose steady leadership has turned the Crusaders into a perennial powerhouse in Minnesota baseball.
Senior right‑hander Jack Hamak delivered a masterful outing, tossing six shutout innings, striking out five batters while walking three, setting the tone for the team’s dominant performance.
Reliever Jake Murphy sealed the win with three flawless innings, allowing just one hit and one walk, preserving the clean sheet and igniting the bench’s roar.
At the plate, Jacob Oliver sparked the offense with a 2‑for‑4 effort that included a double and an RBI, while Owen Fradette contributed a 1‑for‑3 showing highlighted by two RBI. Charlie Dolan added a 2‑for‑2 performance that kept the runs flowing.
Glencoe-Silver Lake’s starter Jackson Wischnack absorbed the loss, surrendering two earned runs on seven hits and striking out three, but the Crusaders’ balanced attack proved too much.
The victory reverberates beyond the diamond, reinforcing St. Cloud Cathedral’s reputation as a cornerstone of high school baseball in the Twin Cities region and promising a bright future under Coach Karn’s continued guidance.
