The St. Edmond baseball program gathered under bright lights on a crisp June evening to celebrate a generation of seniors who have shaped the team’s recent rise.
A Senior Class Honored
Seven seniors — Grant Galles, Kinnick Henning, Max Webster, Jackson Calvert, Jack McElroy, Ethan Swisher and Carson Bargfrede — were recognized on the field after the final out of the second game. Their contributions over multiple seasons have left a lasting imprint on the program.
Coach Jordan Miller took the opportunity to commend the departing players for their dedication, sportsmanship and the example they set for younger teammates.
Algona’s Dominant Performance
Algona answered with a 7-4 win in the first contest and followed it with a 10-0 shutout in six innings. Brooks Kuhlmann drove in three runs for the Bulldogs, while Aiden Engel delivered a four-hitter and added three RBI at the plate.
The victories moved Algona to a 19-9 overall record and secured at least a share of the North Central Conference title, setting the stage for a postseason run.
Looking Ahead
The Gaels will open Class 1A, District 5 play against Glidden-Ralston, while the Bulldogs travel to face Pocahontas Area in their next scheduled matchups.
Beyond the seniors, players such as Maddox Shirbroun, Tate Garman, West Streit, Thomas Ehn, Levi Walker, Mason Ulrich, Dawson Elsbecker, Julian Blanco, Coltin Fevold and Garrett Royster will continue to build on the foundation laid by their predecessors.
