A Milestone Seed
The Red Storm have earned the fourth seed in the Tallahassee Regional, a placement that underscores the program’s sustained presence on the national stage. This marks the 39th time St. John's has been selected for the NCAA Tournament, tying for the 11th most appearances among Division I programs.
A Legacy of Success
Since its first appearance, the program has compiled a winning record in regional play, posting at least one victory in nine of the last ten tournaments and advancing to six College World Series. The team enters the tournament with a 33‑24 record and a five‑game winning streak that was highlighted by a perfect 3‑0 performance at the BIG EAST Tournament in Mason, Ohio.
Key Figures to Watch
Head Coach Mike Hampton, now in his 13th NCAA Tournament appearance, has guided the squad through a period of rapid development. Nine players from the 2024 roster will make their second trip to the College World Series, including Will Cowan, Jayder Raifstanger, Liam O'Leary, Shaun McMillan and Lewis Rodriguez, all of whom earned spots on the BIG EAST All‑Tournament Team. Additionally, Adam Agresti, Jon LeGrande and other all‑conference selections provide depth and experience as the Red Storm prepare to face the 10th‑seeded Florida State Seminoles.
Looking Forward
The Red Storm will open play on Friday at 3 p.m. against Florida State on the ACC Network. This will be the fourth all‑time meeting between the two schools, the last of which occurred in a three‑game series in Tallahassee in March 2016. With a blend of seasoned veterans and rising talent, St. John's hopes to add another chapter to its storied tournament history.
