St. John's University celebrated a milestone in the BIG EAST Conference as five of its athletic programs were recognized for academic excellence during the 2025‑26 season, the most accolades the school has received in a single year since 2020.
A Record Number of Honorees
The university’s baseball, women’s golf, men’s lacrosse, women’s tennis, and volleyball squads each earned the conference’s Team Academic Excellence Award, underscoring a campus‑wide commitment to scholarship among student‑athletes.
Baseball led the way, capturing the award for the third straight year and posting a cumulative GPA of 3.59, marking its tenth overall conference honor. The women’s golf team, a perennial contender, recorded a 3.88 GPA, extending its six victories in the past eight seasons. Men’s lacrosse, with a 3.54 GPA, secured its tenth award since 2010, while women’s tennis posted a 3.87 GPA to claim its second consecutive honor.
Volleyball added another layer of distinction by earning the AVCA Team Academic Award for a record 13 straight seasons and repeating as BIG EAST champions in the classroom with a 3.73 GPA.

Since 2010, the men’s lacrosse program has amassed ten academic awards, reflecting sustained performance, while the women’s golf team’s six titles in eight years highlight its consistency.
