Six Final Four Teams to Compete in Eight-Game Event at Civic Arena

St. Joseph to Host 2027 Winter Basketball Showcase

The St. Joseph Sports Commission announced that the 2027 Winter High School Basketball Showcase will take place on Saturday, January 2, at Civic Arena in downtown St. Joseph. The event will feature eight games and nine schools, highlighting six programs that advanced to the Final Four in the previous season.

Games are slated to run from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., offering a full day of competition that showcases the region’s top talent. Executives noted that the calendar presented scheduling challenges, but the commission was able to lock in the dates despite the tight window.

Ticket information will be released in late fall, with sales conducted online and at the Civic Arena Box Office. Organizers expect strong demand given the caliber of teams and the tradition of the showcase.

Brett Esely, Executive Director of the St. Joseph Sports Commission, said the showcase provides a platform for local fans to experience high‑level basketball while supporting the growth of high school programs across the area.

Participating Schools

The lineup includes North Platte, which finished 27‑5 and third in Class 3 in 2025‑26, and Benton, a three‑time Class 4 Final Four participant. Norris from Nebraska posted a 23‑4 record and a third‑place finish in Class B, while Olathe North captured the Kansas 6A State Championship. Atchison Phoenix posted a 26‑2 season and reached the Kansas 4A Final Four.
