The University of St. Thomas will once again serve as the host venue for the 2027 Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Final Faceoff, marking the second straight year the Twin Cities school has headlined the Division I women's ice hockey championship.
A Milestone for the Arena
Lee & Penny Anderson Arena, which first welcomed the tournament in 2026, will open its doors again from March 4 to March 6, 2027, to accommodate the league’s top four teams battling for the conference crown.
The schedule dovetails with the WCHA playoffs, which commence on February 26, 2027, as the conference’s regular‑season leaders vie for the automatic berth that leads to the Final Faceoff and, ultimately, the NCAA national championship.
WCHA Commissioner Michelle McAteer praised the arena’s state‑of‑the‑art facilities and the university’s logistical expertise, describing the partnership as a “natural fit” for the league’s continued expansion.
Vice President for Athletics Phil Esten echoed the sentiment, noting that the return of the Final Faceoff to St. Paul reflects the city’s deep‑rooted hockey culture and the university’s role as a central hub for the sport.

The momentum from last season’s dramatic conclusion, when the Ohio State Buckeyes secured their third WCHA title by edging the Wisconsin Badgers, has heightened anticipation for the upcoming championship cycle.
