Stanford University has named Kevin Richardson and Jason Fisk as the voice of its 2026 football broadcasts, appointing the two alumni to a dual role that pairs play‑by‑play commentary with color analysis.
A Return to the Booth
Richardson, who starred at inside linebacker from 1984 to 1988, will handle the play‑by‑play duties. His collegiate career culminated with 289 tackles, and after graduation he spent three seasons as the play‑by‑play announcer for San Jose State before adding 15 years of color commentary for the same program.
Fisk, a defensive lineman who anchored Stanford’s defensive line from 1991 to 1994, brings a senior‑season reputation as a sack leader and an All‑Pac‑10 Second‑Team selection. He was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in 1995 and went on to appear in Super Bowl XXXIV with the Titans, where he recorded a sack on quarterback Kurt Warner.
Both men have extensive broadcasting resumes. Richardson’s tenure at San Jose State included not only play‑by‑play but also a stint as the voice of the Buck/Cardinal Club, where he helped grow donations from $3 million to $8 million. Fisk most recently served as the color analyst for San Jose State’s 2024 campaign and has hosted a radio show in Nashville while playing for the Titans.
Beyond the microphone, Richardson works as an independent financial advisor in Monterey County, while Fisk teaches at Monterey County’s Chartwell School, mentoring students with dyslexia. Their families remain deeply rooted in the area; Richardson’s sons, Jack and Carl, both played quarterback in college, and Tucker Fisk, Jason’s son, appeared in 25 NFL games for the Falcons and Chargers.
The upcoming season will mark the first time the two alumni share a broadcast booth, a partnership that Stanford hopes will blend Richardson’s deep play‑by‑play expertise with Fisk’s sharp analytical perspective.
