State Journal-Register Announces All-Area Baseball Team and Player of the Year
The State Journal-Register will reveal its all-area baseball team and the overall player of the year on June 25, marking the culmination of a season that has seen dozens of Springfield-area standouts earn recognition.
Those players were selected to the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association’s all-state teams for Classes 1A, 2A and 3A, a distinction that places them among the elite in the region.
Fans are being given a direct voice in the selection of the fan-vote player of the year, allowing the community to highlight the athlete they believe had the most impact.
The fan-vote poll will remain open until Friday at noon, after which the winner will be announced alongside the rest of the all-area team.
The announcement will be made across the newspaper’s digital platforms and in a special print supplement, giving readers a comprehensive look at the players who defined the 2026 season.
