A New Era for River Hawks Hockey
UMass Lowell announced this week that Stavros Paskaris will step into the role of director of scouting and assistant coach for the River Hawks, bringing a deep reservoir of collegiate experience to the program.
Paskaris arrives after more than fifteen years navigating the sidelines at institutions such as Bowling Green, Dartmouth and Princeton, where he honed a reputation for turning raw talent into competitive teams.
His career includes stints that produced eleven NHL contracts and three NCAA Division I All‑Americans, underscoring his ability to develop players who rise to the professional ranks.
A Track Record of Development and Strategy
At Bowling Green he overhauled the recruiting operation, streamlining scholarship distribution and expanding the program’s reach. At Dartmouth he helped craft a new recruiting strategy and directed the forward group, while at Princeton he guided the Tigers to the 2018 ECAC championship and a subsequent NCAA Tournament appearance.
His development work also yielded eleven professional contracts and three All‑American honors, a testament to his eye for talent and his knack for player growth.
Looking Forward
The River Hawks’ coaching staff now features Andy Boschetto, Eric Sorenson and Josh Holmstrom alongside Paskaris, a trio that guided the team to a 13‑22‑0 record in the previous season. The 2026‑27 campaign will open with an exhibition match against Concordia on October 2, followed by the official season opener against Clarkson on October 9 at the Tsongas Center, promising an exciting start to the new era.
