Stephen Chow Sing‑chi, who last directed a feature seven years ago, returns with a bold gender‑swapped remake of his 2001 cult classic Shaolin Soccer. A Gender‑Swapped Vision
At the heart of the narrative is Shuang, the team’s captain and coach, who must confront her own domineering tendencies while navigating a fraught rivalry with her former attacking partner Jade. The tension between the two fuels much of the plot, especially as a depressed teammate channels personal heartbreak into a decisive move on the field.
The cast features a mix of established stars and rising talent, including Hunny Ho Wing‑suen, Zhang Xiaofei, Dilraba Dilmurat, Lay Zhang Yixing, Angel Woo Yu‑on, Sisley Choi Sea‑pui, Louis Cheung Kai‑chung, Carina Lau Ka‑ling, Jimmy O. Yang and Takeru Satoh. Sisley Choi Sea‑pui, playing a blind physiotherapist, delivers some of the film’s most memorable physical comedy.
