A Summer of Growth
Streator’s boys basketball coach Beau Doty is entering his 18th season at the helm, and the recently concluded summer program has left him optimistic about the road ahead.
Over the past five weeks the team participated in a rigorous schedule of 16 competitive games, highlighted by a stint at Purdue University’s camp and the Braidwood Shootout, giving players exposure to high‑level competition.
The graduation of all‑conference standouts Joe Hoekstra, LA Moton and Riley Stevens leaves noticeable holes in rebounding and point‑guard duties, but Doty sees the experience as a catalyst for younger players to step up.
Seniors Brennen Stillwell, Sharonn Morton, Colin Byers, Jack Studnick, Kamdyn Darrow, T.J. Horton and Sam LeRette have all shown measurable improvement, while junior Christian Bruton continues to develop, forming a core group eager to finish their careers on a high note.
Doty emphasized that the summer’s work serves as a stepping stone toward the team’s ambitious goals, and he is excited to see how the newly refined roster performs when the season begins.
