A Competitive Non-Conference Battle
Sturgeon Bay’s boys baseball team improved to 6-14 overall with an 11-7 victory over Lena on Tuesday, a non-conference matchup that showcased both offensive firepower and resilient pitching.
Starter Matty Hartl worked the first three innings, surrendering three runs on three hits while walking five and striking out five batters. His effort kept the game within reach despite the early walks.
Reliever Mason Tristani entered in the fourth and tossed 3 ⅓ innings, giving up four runs on two hits, five walks and four hit batters. His composure under pressure helped limit further damage.
Ethan Kratcha closed out the contest, retiring both batters he faced to seal the win. At the plate, Kratcha and teammate Siggy Hansen each collected two hits and drove in a run, contributing to the offense.
A Step Forward in the League Race
The win moves Sturgeon Bay to 4-10 in the Packerland Conference, keeping their league hopes alive as they prepare for a crucial home doubleheader against Oconto later this week.
Coach Dan McCormick praised the team's perseverance, noting that the combination of solid pitching and timely hitting bodes well for the remainder of the season.
