Sturgeon Bay’s boys soccer team, the Clippers, have opened the season with a perfect three‑game record, winning both of their road outings to sit at 3‑0 and improve to 1‑0 in the Packerland Conference.
On Friday, the Clippers posted a 2‑0 shutout over The Prairie School. Ashton Benzinger opened the scoring, and Jaxzen Bleck added the second goal, the latter set up by Daniel Wienke.
A day later they edged Kenosha Tremper 3‑2 in a back‑and‑forth contest. Kemal Wienke and Finn Stevenson struck early, only for Tremper to pull one back before halftime, and Joni Ismaili’s decisive strike in the second half sealed the win.
Coach’s Praise for Defensive Mastery
Head coach Jesus Jesse Mejia Jr. highlighted the team’s disciplined defensive shape and relentless high‑press, noting that the side’s ability to control the tempo was a key factor in both victories.
Looking ahead, the Clippers are scheduled to host a conference match on Monday at Kewaunee, where they hope to extend their unbeaten streak and solidify their early standing in the league.
