The Sun Belt Conference has released its 2026 preseason recognitions, naming award winners and outlining expectations for the upcoming campaign as the league prepares for another competitive season.
Preseason Accolades
Carlos Del Rio‑Wilson of Marshall was crowned Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, while Troy’s Donnie Smith earned Defensive Player of the Year and Evan Crenshaw was selected as Special Teams Player of the Year.
Coaches and media participants placed Marshall at the top of the East Division ballot, whereas Troy secured the projected West Division crown, reflecting the conference’s competitive balance.
Media Days are scheduled for July 15 and 16 at the New Orleans Marriott Warehouse Arts District, with live coverage streaming on ESPN+.
