SUNY Canton has officially released its 2026‑27 men’s basketball schedule, a 25‑game slate that blends home‑court battles, road excursions and two early‑semester tournaments.
The season will be contested within the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC), now composed of 12 institutions divided into East and West divisions.
According to the release, the Roos will face each of the five teams in their own division twice — once at home and once away — while meeting the six schools from the opposite division on a single occasion, three of which will be played on their own hardwood.
Early‑season tournaments set the tone
The opening stretch begins with the Mike Daley Memorial Tournament hosted by Nazareth, where the team opens against Muhlenberg on November 6 and then contests either Keystone or the host Golden Flyers the following day, depending on the tournament outcome.
Two road games at Clarkson on November 10 and at SUNY Poly on November 13 follow before the home opener at Stan Cohen Court on November 17 against Brockport.
November also features the Williams Purple and Gold Tournament on the 21st and 22nd, where the Roos open against Nichols and then play either Maine Farmington or the host Ephs in a consolation or championship game.
December and January milestones
December brings a home matchup against St. John Fisher on December 1, league road trips to Plattsburgh (December 4) and Cobleskill (December 5), and a final 2026 home game against Alfred State on December 12.
The new year kicks off with a non‑conference home game against VTSU Castleton on January 3, after which the schedule becomes entirely SUNYAC contests, beginning with a four‑game homestand in February against Buffalo State, Fredonia, Cobleskill and Plattsburgh.
Road trips to Oswego, Morrisville, Delhi and Oneonta punctuate the early January stretch, and the Roos will later host Oneonta, Delhi and Potsdam in a three‑game home stretch beginning January 8.
The conference tournament, scheduled for late February, will see the top two seeds receive first‑round byes, while seeds three and four host opening‑round games on February 23. The championship weekend, held on February 26‑27, will be anchored by the No. 1 seed.
Victory in the SUNYAC Tournament guarantees an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament, a prize the program has yet to claim but hopes to achieve this season.
