A season of opportunity
The Susan Moore Bulldogs are entering the 2026 campaign with a sense of optimism that borders on expectation. After a season that saw them finish with a strong record, the team returns with 17 starters, nine of whom will line up on offense, giving them a depth that coaches say is rare at the high school level.
Head coach Wes Patterson has laid out a clear vision: compete for region titles and push deep into the playoffs. He stresses that the work begins long before the first game, with summer conditioning and skill work that will set the tone for the months ahead.
The Bulldogs will face a familiar slate in region six, meeting traditional rivals such as Etowah, Glencoe, Hokes Bluff and Oneonta. Notably, standout quarterback Sam Garrison has transferred to Oneonta, a move that adds a new storyline to the upcoming matchups.
Seniors like Maximiliano Cervantes have taken the message to heart, urging teammates to treat the summer as a crucible for growth. ‘If we put in the work now, the results will show up in October and November,’ Cervantes said, echoing a sentiment that has become a rallying cry.
Beyond the returning roster, the team has welcomed several soccer players who have brought a winning culture from their recent Class 1‑3A title run. Their experience adds a fresh competitive edge and could prove decisive in tight games.
Patterson remains focused on maintaining high standards, insisting that excellence is a daily habit. ‘We’re not just aiming to win; we’re aiming to set a benchmark for what a Susan Moore football player represents,’ he said.
