A historic step for Swiss women's hockey
Switzerland has taken a decisive step toward building a competitive women's program by publishing its first ever national roster for the 2026‑27 season. The lineup, announced by new head coach Shannon Miller, blends seasoned internationals with a wave of emerging talent.
The squad will assemble for the Women's Euro Hockey Tour in Kloten from August 19 to 22, where they will face Sweden, Finland and Czechia in a tightly packed tournament. Switzerland opens the competition against Sweden on August 19, then meets Finland on August 21 while Czechia takes on Sweden. The final day, August 22, concludes with Finland versus Sweden and a closing match between Switzerland and Czechia.
At the heart of the team is captain Lara Stalder, whose extensive international résumé provides a steadying presence. The roster also features a contingent of Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) players, including Andrea Brändli, Alina Müller, Saskia Mauer and Nicole Vallario, who bring club experience from North America and Europe.
The coaching staff extends beyond Miller, adding assistant Saara Kivenmäki, video analyst Remo Egger and performance specialist Corsin Camichel. Their combined expertise aims to sharpen tactics and maximize physical readiness. The announcement also marks the departure of several top veterans, such as Lara Christen, who have stepped away from the national program.
Beyond the on‑ice action, the roster reflects a broader ambition to grow the sport within Switzerland. By integrating players from diverse backgrounds and fostering a collaborative environment, the federation hopes to lay a sustainable foundation for future successes.
