A Community Comes Together
The 2026 Southwestern Oklahoma State University Football Championship Weekend proved to be more than a series of games; it was a fundraising catalyst that brought together alumni, sponsors, and local supporters in a shared mission to strengthen the Bulldog program.
Over the course of June 5‑6 in Weatherford, Oklahoma, the weekend generated more than $84,000, a sum that will flow directly into the SWOSU Football Legacy Fund, an initiative that has been bolstering the team since 2015.
Sponsorship and Support
Hill's Pet Nutrition served as the presenting sponsor for the Friday Night Main Event, while Great Plains Driving School backed the accompanying golf tournament. Their contributions underscored the diverse partnerships that make the annual championship possible.
A panel discussion on the future of SWOSU Football featured Steve Price, Andrew Rice, Carl Birdsong, Michael Hart and Pat Lewis, offering insights that resonated with attendees and highlighted the program’s evolving vision.
Todd Helton, SWOSU Athletic Director, took the opportunity to thank alumni, sponsors, and community members, emphasizing that the collective effort fuels both the team’s competitiveness and the broader student‑athlete experience.
Established by alumni Dustin Wall and Michael Hart, the Legacy Fund continues to provide financial support for scholarships, equipment and operational needs, ensuring that the Bulldogs can compete at the highest level.
Beyond the numbers, the event reinforced a culture of giving that stretches across the state, illustrating how sport can serve as a conduit for community investment and student success.
