Mercyhurst, in its inaugural Division I campaign, finished 17‑17 overall and reached the Northeast Conference final, falling just shy of an upset against Long Island in the championship game.
Head coach Gary Manchel, now in his 24th year, will rely on junior guard Jake Lemelman, who started every game last season and averaged 13.9 points, while the Lakers added four newcomers, including Tennessee Rainwater from Le Moyne, to bolster their frontcourt.
