A Historic Rivalry Revived
The women's contest is slated for October 12, followed by the men's matchup on October 13, giving fans a rare chance to see both programs on consecutive nights.
The two schools have a long‑standing rivalry that dates back decades, with their most famous encounter coming in the 2016 National Championship game, which UConn captured.
Although the programs were regular Big East opponents until Syracuse’s move to the ACC in 2013, recent meetings have largely been confined to NCAA Tournament play, including last season’s second‑round clash.
John L. Doleva, President and CEO of the Hall of Fame, highlighted the significance of the matchup, noting that the rivalry represents one of the most compelling storylines in college basketball.
Jeff Hamilton, President and General Manager of Mohegan Sun, added that the arena’s reputation as a premier venue for both men’s and women’s basketball makes it the ideal setting for the event.

Tickets for the exhibition game will go on sale on Wednesday, August 12, through Ticketmaster and at the Mohegan Sun Arena Box Office, with fans expected to flock to secure seats for what promises to be a historic night.
