Syracuse’s basketball program is entering a pivotal recruiting cycle as first‑year head coach Gerry McNamara and his staff turn their attention to the Class of 2027.
McNamara, who took over the Orange in late March, has made the development of future talent a central theme of his early tenure.
A busy summer on the recruiting trail
The Orange have identified a handful of top‑tier prospects who could shape the next era, among them five‑star point guard Nasir Anderson of Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., four‑star power forward Ian Condon from Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., and five‑star wing Moussa Kamissoko of Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, N.Y.
Condon is slated to take an official visit to the campus from September 1 through September 2, while Kamissoko’s recruitment remains in active dialogue with the coaching staff.
Other notable names on the radar include J'Lon Lyons, a four‑star point guard from Clinton Grace Christian School in Clinton, Md., who will be on campus from September 11 to September 13, and Ahmed Nur, a four‑star wing/forward from CIA Bella Vista in Phoenix, who plans an official visit August 28‑30.
The staff has also extended scholarship offers to a broader group that includes Devin Cleveland (La Lumiere School, Ind.), Zion Green (AZ Compass Prep, Ariz.), and Lewis Uvwo (Prolific Prep, Fla.), the latter of whom received an offer in late May.
Beyond the headline prospects, the Orange have begun to engage with additional talent such as Carson Crawford, Jack Donohue, King Gibson and RJ Moore, while a host of other players — Munir Greig, Declan Griffiths, Payton Jones, Markus Kerr, Godson Okokoh and Kamari Whyte — have drawn some interest.
The recruitment push reflects a strategic effort to build depth across the backcourt and frontcourt, with McNamara emphasizing the need to secure commitments before the next recruiting window opens.
