Syracuse’s men’s basketball program is set to open its home slate on November 16 with a much‑anticipated clash against Lafayette, a meeting that will mark the 10th time the two schools have faced off in the regular season.
A Milestone Matchup
The Orange have never lost to the Leopards, holding a perfect 9‑0 record in the nine previous encounters. The most recent showdown, played during the 2021‑22 campaign, ended in a 97‑63 victory for Syracuse, underscoring the gap in experience and depth.
Lafayette entered the last season with an 11‑21 overall record and an 8‑10 mark in Patriot League play, a performance that kept them out of the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2015. Despite the setbacks, the Leopards remain a competitive force within their conference.
Syracuse has already locked in eight of its regular‑season matchups, confirming dates against New Haven (Nov. 2), Central Connecticut State (Nov. 5), Indiana (Nov. 9), Oklahoma (Dec. 1), Colgate (Dec. 8), Canisius (Dec. 16) and Providence (Dec. 19). The schedule reflects a non‑conference heavy slate designed to test the team early.
TBT Run and Summer Slam
Adding to the excitement, the alumni‑driven squad ‘Boeheim’s Army’ has advanced to the semifinal round of the TBT tournament, where the competition will shift to a single‑elimination format for the final four.
The team also hosted the Second Annual Summer Slam, an event that blended charity, fan interaction and alumni outreach, reinforcing the program’s commitment to community engagement.
Veteran guard Gerry McNamara, a key figure in the program’s recent successes, was among the alumni who helped organize the Summer Slam, highlighting the lasting impact of former players on the current culture.
