Syracuse University will host a men’s basketball exhibition game against Niagara University on October 24 at 3 p.m. inside the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York, continuing a tradition that began last season when the two schools opened their schedules at the same venue.
A Fresh Coaching Chapter for the Orange
Gerry McNamara, who guided Siena to the 2026 MAAC Tournament title and an NCAA Tournament berth, returns to his alma mater as head coach of the Orange, bringing a winning pedigree and a roster that blends returning sophomores Kiyan Anthony and Sadiq White Jr. with six incoming transfers.
The Orange’s newcomers include Temple guard Aiden Tobiason, who averaged 15.3 points per game last season, and Gavin Doty, a 2025‑26 MAAC First Team selection who contributed 18 points per game at the collegiate level, adding depth to a backcourt that also features returning sharpshooters.
Niagara’s New Direction
Greg Paulus, a former Duke standout and longtime coach at Niagara, will lead the Purple Eagles, whose lineup includes senior guard Trenton Walters and a group of twelve newcomers such as transfers Tae Blackshear from Youngstown State and Cole Farrell from Long Beach State, giving the team a blend of experience and fresh talent.
Jake Presutti, a former Syracuse player and graduate manager, serves as an assistant coach for Niagara, adding a familiar connection between the two programs.
Ticket sales will open for donors on August 17, with a public sale beginning August 21 at 10 a.m., giving fans ample time to secure seats for what promises to be a competitive preseason matchup.
