A Season of Travel and Tradition
The 2026 Syracuse University field hockey squad is set for a demanding campaign that blends extensive travel with a packed home slate. In addition to nine road contests, the Orange will meet six opponents that reached the 2025 NCAA Tournament, including traditional powerhouses such as Ohio State, Rutgers, Virginia, Wake Forest and Duke.
The season opens with exhibition matches against University at Albany and Cornell, followed by early‑season road trips to New England where the team will face Fairfield and Northeastern. Mid‑week, Syracuse will travel to New Jersey to take part in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, squaring off against Ohio State and Rutgers before returning to the Carrier Dome for a home opener against UMass Lowell in mid‑September.
Conference Play and Home‑Field Moments
Conference play begins in Charlottesville, where the Orange will test themselves against the University of Virginia. Subsequent road series in North Carolina will see Syracuse meet Wake Forest and Duke, while later in the schedule the team will host Stanford, California and Boston College before concluding regular‑season action against Boston College at home.
The regular season culminates with a stretch of five of the final six games at J.S. Coyne Stadium, including the first ACC home game against Louisville. The postseason will see the Orange compete in the ACC Tournament hosted by the University of North Carolina from November 3‑6, and later participate in the NCAA Championship Weekend in Louisville from November 13‑22.
