Philadelphia police arrested three Syracuse University football recruits — Charles W. Foulke, Masiia Acrey and Jalen Millevoix — early on the morning of April 12 after a confrontation in the historic Old City district.
According to investigators, the encounter began with a playful "noogie" that quickly escalated into a physical fight, during which the victim suffered a concussion, a broken nose and two chipped teeth.
Foulke, a three‑star quarterback who had committed to Syracuse after leading St. Joseph’s Prep to a state title in 2024, and Acrey, a three‑star cornerback who chose the university over several other programs, were both identified as teammates at the high school level before joining the Orange.
The victim was transported to Jefferson University Hospital for emergency treatment, where doctors confirmed the extent of his injuries.
Bail for Foulke was set at $200,000 unsecured, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 10, while Acrey’s bail was set at $50,000 unsecured and his preliminary hearing set for June 22. Millevoix, also charged with criminal mischief and conspiracy, was released pending a June 22 hearing.
The arrests have prompted discussion within Syracuse’s athletic department about the expectations placed on incoming student‑athletes and the university’s response to off‑field conduct.
Local officials say the case underscores a growing concern about violence in Philadelphia’s Old City entertainment zone, where late‑night crowds often blur the line between recreation and confrontation.
Legal Proceedings Underway
Prosecutors have indicated that the charges of aggravated assault carry potential prison sentences if convictions are secured, though the defendants have yet to enter pleas.
As the cases move through the Philadelphia criminal court system, the outcomes will be closely watched by both university officials and the broader college‑football community, which has seen a series of high‑profile off‑field incidents in recent months.
