Syracuse University announced Wednesday that it has secured a verbal commitment from Elijah Kimble, a four-star running back out of Buffalo’s Canisius High School.
Ranked among the top-25 backs in the nation by 247Sports, Rivals and ESPN, Kimble brings a proven track record of more than 1,700 rushing yards in each of his three seasons with the Crusaders.
His decision came after receiving offers from Indiana, UConn, North Carolina and Ohio State, and it pushes the Orange’s 2027 recruiting class to 24 total pledges.
Kimble will join forces with fellow commit Tylek Lewis, a pairing that could reshape the team’s rushing attack in the coming years.
A Boost for the Orange’s Backfield
The commitment appears to have ripple effects beyond the backfield; both Xavier Bala and Sa’Nir Brooks, also on the Orange’s radar, have indicated they will explore other programs following Kimble’s choice.
Coaches say the addition underscores Syracuse’s growing appeal in the Northeast and signals a strategic push to fortify the running back position for the next recruiting cycle.
