Syracuse Student-Athletes Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

Eight Orange standouts recognized for athletic and academic excellence

Academic Excellence Meets Athletic Prowess

Syracuse University celebrated a double triumph this week as eight of its student-athletes earned spots on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District At-Large teams, a distinction that honors both competitive performance and classroom dedication.

The honorees span the university’s women’s and men’s programs, with Acorn Cassidy, Lieke Leeggangers, Charlotte Hallett, Emma Muchnick and Coco Vandiver representing the women’s squads, while Jordan Beck, Riley Figueiras and Finn Thomson flew the flag for the men’s lacrosse team.

Several of the selections have advanced to the national ballot for Academic All-American consideration, including Cassidy, Leeggangers, Muchnick and Vandiver. Beck’s 16 starts in 19 appearances helped the Orange reach Championship Weekend for the second straight year, underscoring his impact on the squad.

Beyond individual accolades, the recognitions reflect a broader culture at Syracuse where high-level athletics and rigorous academics are increasingly viewed as complementary pillars. Coaches and administrators say the achievement sets a new standard for student-athlete development across the campus.
