McDaniel College has officially named T.J. Jordan as its 20th head coach for men’s basketball, tapping a proven leader who has already left his mark on several Maryland programs.
Jordan arrives after a three‑year stint as the inaugural head coach at Notre Dame of Maryland University, where he guided the Gators to a conference championship game and helped the team secure 16 wins in its second season. During that time he mentored four all‑conference players, including two first‑team selections and the 2026 United East Defensive Player of the Year.
His coaching journey began on the sidelines of Lehigh University, where he served as director of basketball operations during a season that saw a 15‑seed upset over No. 2 Duke in the NCAA tournament. Prior to that, Jordan spent six years at McDonogh School, compiling 70 victories and a No. 20 state ranking in 2016‑17.
A New Era for the Green Terror
Jordan’s playing days at St. Mary’s College of Maryland were equally distinguished; he was a four‑year starter who helped the team capture a Capital Athletic Conference title and reach the NCAA Division III Sweet Sixteen. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from St. Mary’s and a Master of Education with an Athletic Leadership certificate from Goucher College.
Jeremy Shepherd, McDaniel’s Director of Athletics, said he is excited to see Jordan’s vision and leadership take shape in the Green Terror program, which aims to compete at a high level within the Centennial Conference.
Jordan will officially begin his duties on Monday, August 10, marking the start of a new chapter for McDaniel’s men’s basketball tradition.
