A Legacy On and Off the Court
Tadric Jackson, a former Blue Devils standout who once led Tift County to a 2014 state title and later became a cornerstone of Georgia Tech’s ACC success, is opening his home gym for the fifth straight year to host a two‑day youth basketball camp.
The camp, which draws dozens of elementary and middle‑school players from across the region, is more than just drills; Jackson says he wants each participant to feel like part of a family while sharpening their fundamentals.
“I tell them that hard work matters no matter who you’re up against,” Jackson explained, recalling the same competitive drive that took him from the small town of Tifton to the bright lights of the ACC.
Campers spend the morning working on shooting, footwork and defensive stance, then break for games that let them apply what they’ve learned in a fun, supportive setting.
Beyond basketball, Jackson emphasizes life lessons — teamwork, perseverance and confidence — that he hopes will stick with the kids long after they leave the court.
Community Roots, Future Dreams
For Jackson, the camp is a way to give back to the community that shaped him, and to inspire the next generation to chase their own athletic and personal goals.
“Seeing these kids smile, hearing them laugh, and watching them improve reminds me why I started this camp in the first place,” he said, adding that the event will continue as long as there are youngsters eager to learn.
