Ness, a Minnesota native who spent the previous season with the club, appeared in 17 games, contributing a goal and accumulating 27 penalty minutes while establishing himself as a reliable presence on the blue line.
During his four‑year tenure at Arizona State University, Ness logged two goals and 102 penalty minutes across 86 contests, a period that honed his physical style and defensive acumen.
Before college, the Plymouth, Minnesota product recorded 24 points — five goals and 19 assists — along with 218 penalty minutes in 104 games for the Waterloo Black Hawks of the United States Hockey League, underscoring a junior career marked by grit and penalty‑killing responsibility.
