Tulane names new director of basketball operations
Tulane University announced that Ashley Langford, the head coach of the Green Wave women's basketball team, has appointed Tamia Willingham‑King as the program's director of basketball operations.
Willingham‑King arrives after a varied career that includes stints with the University of New Orleans, the New York Jets and the Carolina Panthers, where she honed her skills in coaching, operations and player development.
Her professional journey also features a role as a Player Engagement & Operations Intern with the Jets and a Minority Fellow position with the Panthers, experiences that gave her a unique perspective across the NFL landscape.
A multifaceted professional journey
Beyond the league, she contributed to the 2023 NFL Women's Forum and was selected for the inaugural USA Basketball Women in the Game scholarship cohort in 2022, highlighting her standing among emerging leaders.
Willingham‑King’s playing days spanned Snead State Community College, Tuskegee University and Auburn University at Montgomery, where she later returned as an assistant coach before moving to Tulane.
She holds an Associate of Science from Snead State, a Bachelor of Science in Health Science with a minor in Social Work from Tuskegee, and a Master of Education from Auburn University at Montgomery.
Currently she serves on the alumni board of the Black Sports Business Academy, an organization that supports HBCU students pursuing careers in sports, reflecting her commitment to community outreach.
A native of Decatur, Alabama, Willingham‑King brings both regional roots and a national network to the Green Wave, positioning the program for continued growth.
