The University of North Carolina’s baseball team is gearing up for the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament after capping a regular season that saw the Tar Heels win 40 games for the third straight year.
Coach Chris Lemonis has praised the depth of his roster, noting that eight players have been recognized on the All-ACC teams, a testament to the program’s consistent excellence.
First-Team All-ACC Highlights
Pitchers Jason DeCaro and Caden Glauber, along with infielder Jake Schaffner and outfielder Owen Hull, earned first-team honors, underscoring the team’s balanced attack.
Reliever Walker McDuffie is the lone Tar Heel on the second team, a nod to his role as the closer with five saves and 73 strikeouts this season.
Third-Team Contributions
Starting pitcher Ryan Lynch, infielder Gavin Gallaher and catcher Macon Winslow each made the third team, bringing experience and clutch performance to the lineup.
Gallaher’s 11 home runs make him one of only two Diamond Heels players to reach double-digit homers, adding power to a versatile hitting corps.
Freshman of the Year Spotlight
Freshman right-hander Caden Glauber not only secured ACC Freshman of the Year honors but also posted an 8-0 record with a 1.96 earned run average, complementing DeCaro’s 10 wins and 2.03 ERA.
Offensively, Owen Hull leads the team with a .370 batting average and 67 runs batted in, while Jake Schaffner contributes a .354 average and 75 hits, providing a solid foundation for the middle of the order.
With a pitching staff that boasts a collective sub-2.50 ERA and a lineup that spreads the ball across the field, the Tar Heels enter the tournament as a formidable contender, aiming to translate regular-season success into a deep postseason run.
