Tarleton State’s Division I Basketball Debut in the 2027 UAC Tournaments

The Texas university will host the inaugural conference championships in Allen, showcasing new rivalries and a historic transition

A Historic Tournament in Allen

The 2027 University Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men’s and women’s basketball tournaments are set to unfold from March 10 to 14 at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas, a city that has long been a proving ground for the program.

The arena, which opened its doors in 2009, accommodates more than 7,000 spectators and regularly hosts both concerts and sporting events, providing a modern backdrop for the inaugural championship.

Tarleton State’s basketball teams will step onto the court as Division I competitors for the first time, having previously captured back‑to‑back conference titles in Allen during the 2013‑14 seasons while still members of the Western Athletic Conference.

The transition from the WAC to the UAC became official on July 1, 2026, and the new league brings a blend of fresh opponents — such as Austin Peay, Central Arkansas, Eastern Kentucky, Little Rock, North Alabama and West Georgia — alongside familiar rivals like Abilene Christian and UT Arlington.

Fans can already secure season tickets for the tournament, while the first regular‑season schedules have been posted on TarletonSports.com, generating considerable buzz among the student body and alumni.
