Taylor Angley-Holman, a veteran coach with a distinguished record at U-Prep, has been appointed head coach of the Shasta College men’s basketball program, bringing a blend of experience and personal philosophy to the Knights.
During his five seasons at U-Prep, Angley-Holman compiled a 118‑47 record, capturing four Northern Section championships and five Northern Athletic League titles, making him the winningest coach in school history.
A Legacy of Success
His tenure was marked by steady growth, strategic offensive coordination, and a reputation for developing talent while fostering strong bonds with players and the broader community.
Before his head‑coaching role, he served as an assistant at U-Prep and previously as an offensive coordinator for the Panther football team under Dustin Fortenberry, who praised Angley-Holman as “one of the most brilliant leaders” he has known.
Enjoy the Journey
Guided by the motto “Enjoy the Journey,” a phrase introduced by his late mother Rochelle Angley, Angley-Holman emphasizes relationship‑building over mere statistics, a principle he plans to carry into his new position.
Kele Fitzhugh, who retired earlier this year after 29 years and seven Golden Valley Conference championships at Shasta College, expressed confidence that Angley-Holman’s leadership will continue the program’s tradition of excellence.
The coach is already immersed in recruiting and assembling a roster for the 2026‑27 season, aiming to sustain momentum while honoring the legacy of those who paved the way.
Angley-Holman’s personal journey includes a seven‑year battle with breast cancer that claimed his mother in July; he credits his family and community for providing the support that fuels his ambition.
As he steps onto the Shasta College campus, the new head coach looks forward to weaving his proven strategies with the college’s rich basketball heritage, aiming to create a season that reflects both competitive drive and heartfelt connection.
