TBS Extends Its Dodgers Coverage
Turner Sports announced that it will air two additional Los Angeles Dodgers games on its Tuesday night baseball package this August. The first of the new telecasts pits the Dodgers against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on August 4, while the second marks the opener of a series in Atlanta against the Braves on August 25.
These additions bring the network’s Dodgers schedule to four games for the month, but the broadcasts will still be subject to local blackout restrictions that typically keep the games out of the teams’ home television markets.
Blackout Rules and Local Availability
TBS’s baseball telecasts are generally blacked out in the local markets of the opposing teams, a policy that has left none of the Dodgers’ previous four games on the network accessible to viewers in those regions. However, the network is permitted to carry one game per team locally, a carve‑out that may affect how the upcoming contests are distributed.
The Dodgers are currently on a three‑city road trip that includes nine games slated for national television, underscoring the growing prominence of the franchise in prime‑time slots. Last Saturday’s Fox broadcast was rained out and rescheduled for a Sunday morning on True Blue LA, illustrating the volatility of the early‑season weather.
Fans in Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta and the other host cities can expect a heightened presence of Dodgers action on cable, even as the network navigates the complex web of regional broadcast rights.
