TBT Signs Two‑Year Deal with Fox Sports, Expands Format and Broadcast Reach

The agreement introduces a 16‑team bracket, $2 million prize, live coverage on Fox networks and a vision to involve college teams through NIL compensation.

The Basketball Tournament (TBT) has entered a two‑year agreement with Fox Sports that will reshape the league’s structure and broadcasting footprint.

Under the new format, 16 teams will compete for a $2 million championship prize, with the bracket divided between alumni and non‑alumni squads and the opening round contested as a best‑of‑three series.

A Revamped Bracket and Broadcast Strategy

Fox will air 20 games live across its cable properties, including Fox, FS1 and FS2, giving the tournament a broader national presence.

Founder Jon Mugar has said he envisions current college programs eventually fielding teams in TBT, a move he believes could be enabled by name, image and likeness (NIL) agreements that would allow players to be compensated.

Mugar emphasized that the league remains flexible, noting that it is continually experimenting with rules and presentation to keep the competition fresh.
