A Promising Addition to the Horned Frogs
Texas Christian University’s baseball program has announced the verbal commitment of Tanner Griffith, a standout outfielder from Saint Mary’s College of California. The junior’s pledge comes after a breakout 2026 season that saw him bat .342 with a .477 on‑base percentage and 60 runs scored.
Griffith, a 5‑foot‑10 Livermore native, capped his collegiate career with 79 hits, 22 doubles, five triples and five home runs while driving in 42 runs. His 30 multi‑hit games topped the Gaels, and his selection to the All‑West Coast Conference Second Team underscored his consistent offensive production.
The recruit spent his entire three‑year stint at Saint Mary’s, progressing from a part‑time freshman appearance in 2024 to a full‑time starter in 2025. In his final season he posted a .247 average with a .413 on‑base rate across 61 games, showing the blend of contact and plate discipline that attracted TCU’s coaching staff.
Coaches expect Griffith to compete for a starting spot right away when spring practice begins. His speed, contact‑heavy approach and proven ability to generate runs make him a versatile piece for a Horned Frogs lineup that aims to rebuild its offensive firepower.
The addition also highlights the ongoing talent pipeline between West Coast programs and TCU. Both Saint Mary’s College of California and Texas Christian University see the commitment as a reinforcement of their respective athletic ambitions.
