A Summer of Growth for TCU Basketball
The TCU Horned Frogs are set to embark on an overseas preseason adventure, landing in Costa Rica for a pair of exhibition games scheduled between July 31 and August 5. The trip will take the team to the coastal town of Playa Hermosa and the capital city of San Jose, venues chosen to test the squad against international competition while fostering chemistry in a new environment.
Coach Jamie Dixon will use the tour as a laboratory for a roster that has been reshaped dramatically, with ten newcomers joining the program. The games are designed not only to showcase the team’s talent but also to help the coaching staff evaluate how the new pieces fit alongside the returning core.
Four players who helped TCU reach the NCAA Tournament last season return to the fold. All‑Big 12 forward Xavier Edmonds, along with Brock Harding, Micah Robinson and Tanner Toolson, provide a blend of scoring, defense and experience that will anchor the team’s efforts.
Among the fresh faces, Gavin Sykes stands out as the 2026 Big West Freshman of the Year, while Trent Lincoln is heralded as the nation’s top‑ranked junior‑college prospect. Their arrivals add depth and excitement, giving Dixon a broader palette to experiment with lineups and strategies.
The upcoming Costa Rican leg follows TCU’s most recent international summer tour in 2024, which took the Horned Frogs to London and Paris. That experience proved valuable in building camaraderie, and the current trip aims to replicate that momentum while addressing lingering questions about the revamped roster before the 2026‑27 season begins.
