Tedesco Returns to St. Cloud State as Assistant Coach

The former Huskies player brings European pedigree and analytical insight to the program’s new coaching era

St. Cloud State University announced this week that Daniel Tedesco has joined the program as an assistant coach for the men’s ice hockey team, marking the next step in a career that has spanned North America and Europe.

Alumni leadership reshapes the bench

In his new role, Tedesco will manage video operations, coordinate team travel and contribute to player development, drawing on a playing résumé that includes stints in the ECHL with the Bloomington Bison and the Elite Ice Hockey League’s Glasgow Clan, as well as a season in Europe’s top tier.

Head coach Nick Oliver, who returned to St. Cloud State after a distinguished playing career that overlapped with Tedesco from 2013 to 2015, highlighted the value of Tedesco’s analytical background. “His time at SportContract gave him a deep understanding of how video can sharpen performance, and his own experience on the ice gives him a unique perspective,” Oliver said.

Tedesco becomes the third former Huskies player on Oliver’s staff, joining Clark Kuster and Spencer Meier, a trio that the administration believes will reinforce the program’s continuity and culture.

The hiring follows the addition of Joe Howe to the coaching ranks and the departure of Eric Rud, who accepted a head‑coaching position at Alaska‑Anchorage. Together, the new assistants aim to build on recent successes and guide the current roster toward greater competitiveness.

The blend of fresh analytical tools and seasoned on‑ice insight is expected to translate into more precise preparation and stronger development pathways for the student‑athletes, a prospect that excites both the coaching staff and the fan base.
